Improve visibility (increse contrast and draw visible frames)
What makes it hard to use AnyTwo, is the bad visibility because of WAY!!! too low contrast.
Already Anytype has had this issue all the years, but CSS was able to ease that pain, although not everywhere where it was needed (for example the connection line in the Graph was "immune" against CSS).
I know, I have a little weakness with the color blue. But problems do I have only in Any*.
I don't have such problems in the Firefox browser, nor in the Brave Browser, nor in Microsoft Word, nor in Excel, nor in OneNote, nor in CAD Apps ...
Why is it only in Anytype/AnyTwo the case? And this since years and although I myself and others complained often about it?
Btw.: I use Dark Theme and Dimmed Mode.
But the other options in the preferences don't help much. The light mode makes things a tiny little better recognizable, but this mode burns my eyes, therefor I can't use it.
Concrete examples for things that need improvements:
- The text cursor is absolute invisible! I definitely can't see it at all!
-- Guys, really, compare it how the well visible cursor in this Feedback Board looks, with the cursor in AnyTwo!
The cursor should be AT LEAST as noticeable as the text itself, in doubt even brighter.
Everyone (80 years old users included) should be able to find the cursor at the first glance. Actual, I can't even find it AT ALL (I'm 59 btw.), no matter what I do. Even moving the cursor with the arrow keys doesn't help.
. - Selected text is indistinguishable from not selected text (was already reportet to Kaye).
. - The boundaries of the side menu are invisible.
Here I suggest two things:
1) Give the whole side menu a background color.
2) Draw a noticeable frame around the side menu.
. - The frame around Property fields are barely visible. At least here, I can tell that there is a frame around them, but only if the field has the focus. And even then, I need to stare very intense on it, to recognize it.
At this point an important general tipp:
Many people today wear blue filter glasses if they work on the PC. Me included!
But The problem is even there when I take this glasses of.
What I want to say in general, is this:
Pure blue is the worst possible color for "highlighting" things! Because no one who wears blue light filter glasses will see it.
The solution is a different color. Mix a at least a little green or red into the color, that helps already a lot!
A second tipp:
Increase the contrast for EVERYTHING what should somehow become highlighted.
For example the background color for the header line and column in the Simple Table.
It is barely noticeable, although it isn't blue. The contrast is simply way too low.
A third tipp:
Fixed values, as for example color values, should never be hardcoded
CSS is good, but only if it gives the user full control over everything.
In Anytype, this wasn't the case. My "most beloved" example since three years was always the extremely bad visible connection lines in the Graph. It wasn't possible to modify their appearance with CSS.
Fixed values should always come from a file that the user could modify on his own in a text editor.
