Favorites: don't just add Collections, but their active View
A Collection can have multiple Views.
For the Favorites may only one specific View be of interest.
Therefore, a click on a Collection in the Favorites should not just open the Collection, but that specific View.
-- I know, there would be another way for the user: Instead of putting multiple Views into a Collection, he could create a Collection that has only this needed View. But this attempt would lead to chaos because there would be many many many Collections with overlapping functionalities and the user becomes headache if he needs to chooses a Collection for a Page's header.
Because of that, it still makes sense to add multiple Views to the Collections.
But a click in the Favorites should open the needed View, not just the general Collection.
Also, the name that's displayed in the Favorites, should somehow display both:
- The name of the View.
- The name of the Collection.
Suggestion for that:
Display in the Favorites at least the View's name, but expand it by displaying in addition also the Collection's name while the user hovers the mouse on this entry.
A good example for the need in daily usage:
Let's say you have a large Collection with songs.
The songs are categorized into Views:
- All
- last modified
- 80er
- 90er
- Rock
- Classic
- The Beatles
- Folk
- Jazz
Actually, the user loves The Beatles. He plays their songs over and over since weeks.
So he wants to have them all in the Favorites, not just the general music Collection.
He could, as a workaround, move that View at the left position in the Views bar, so that the Collection would show this View on start.
But that's a bad attempt, because he is used to have the "All" View always on the left in all his Collections.
A second example would be images.
An image Collection may have multiple Views, but actually are only the images in one specific View the thing of interest.
If the user can add specific views to the Favorites, it enables him also to add even two or more Vies of the same Collection to the Favorites.
