Property Alias for shorter names

Columns in collection often suffer from long Property names.
This effect is in other languages bigger then in English, because of longer names for certain functions.

Often it would be nice to display in Columns headers only shorter "names" of the Properties, for example an icon from the unicode special characters.

Request:

  1. Add to the "Edit Property" menu a filed "Alias" in which we can type the text that becomes then displayed in Collection's column headers, instead of the normal name of that Property.
  2. When the mouse hovers on such an alias in the columns header, display the normal name in full length as Tooltip.

Example:

🎵 is the displayed alias in the column header. The tooltip while hovering on it shows "Sound", because that is the normal name of that Property.

Why not add the option to choose an icon directly (please make it fairly flexible—I like colors and adding cool icons... or even images ^^)?

The collapsed column would display that icon (with the text in a pop-up, as suggested)

Because I don't request "give me an icon instead of the text name".
I request an alternative (alias) text. This text CAN contain also unicode icon(s) (more then only one when needed!), but if the user wants it even mixed with normal text -- and that in the most compact form.

Of course, my request doesn't rule out that the devs make nails with heads and give us in addition to the requested text alias also a graphical icon.
But I didn't mention that in the request, because I fear ed it would be couteraproductive; A graphic icon in addition to text could maybe need more space, even if the graphical icon isn't used -- for example if they implement a placeholder that's always there. -- That would then be against my intention, to make the columns as narrow as possible.
Yeah, the devs could do something against that so that there is no empty placeholder, or that the icon disappears first if the user makes the column very narrow. But as you see, there is a bunch of side aspects with this and that detail in this or that situation ... -- that all causes relatively big work for the devs, while the benefit for the users is relatively marginal.
Other things are more important in this state.

Text aliases can contain unicode icons. That should (for now) ease the pain of users who need icons.
Additional graphical icons can come later, if there is time for such less important things.
Important at the moment is, that we get the abillity to make columns narrow while still having column headers where we understand theirs sense, because we can give them a short name (an/or unicode icon) that feels descriptive for us.
