Pin a chat on the user side

Background: I saw some interesting things in the Anytwo Assembly chat.
Now I'd like to find them again.

The search function doesn't work in the chat.
And the chat is getting pretty long.

I should have copied them somewhere else, but the cleanest solution would be to be able to pin a specific post (visible only to the user).

I suppose there are two options here:
1. Pin messages — this is usually for everybody in the chat
2. Bookmark messages — this is usually reserved for just the user.

I assume that you'd want both.

Both can be useful, I suppose, but personally I don’t have a use case for bookmarks, which seem more… long-term (for lack of a better word to describe how I feel about them).

Here, it’s more like this: I’m reading the chat, I see an interesting post I want to come back to later, so I pin it or take some other action that lets me find the info later without interrupting my reading—like pinning it via the menu or adding it to a favorites list. No navigating elsewhere—I stay right in the reading stream!

Sending something to a collection might work too, although even that feels more “cumbersome/permanent” than just pinning or unpinning: in my case, if I want to keep something longer, I’d just create a real note!

I should have renamed what I meant. Bookmark messages = save for later. It's just that pin usually is interpreted as something that is marked for everybody in the chat, not individuals.

Oh, then yes, a temporary mark so I can find it later.

What I would add (following on from my other post about AI responses), is that the agent actually caught this distinction in its question to you. Which I then had to spend more time clarifying.

Yeah, and as you can see, I replied to Bao!

When he asks me questions that I think are totally pointless, I just ignore him ;-).

That part is actually kind of funny, since you can just ignore him if he’s off-topic.

What’s more annoying is when the AI says that, yes, you’re going to take it into account. When that’s not actually the case, it’s a shame if the AI commits to it.

Thank you for the suggestion! This sounds like a real pain point when you want to revisit something useful later.

A couple of quick clarifications to help us understand the scope better:

  1. When you say "pin a specific post (visible only to the user)" — do you mean a private bookmark/favorite just for yourself, or would you also find it helpful if you could pin posts to the channel itself (visible to everyone in that chat)?
  2. Are there specific types of posts you find yourself wanting to save most often — like decisions, links, ideas, or something else?

Just for myself.
Pinning a post for the entire community is a different need from “communication,” which still needs to be expressed.
