Quakback: If there is no special status filter set, show all posts, including closed postings too.

I was looking for my post about the mouse indicator to add the solution I found by setting the mouse indicator to inverted.

I could not find it in the first place, just after I set the status filter to closed posts.

I think all posts should be shown by default if you are just looking for general information. Like this, we can put useful information even in closed posts for future users.

Thanks for the suggestion, but we don't agree with this. Overtime, the amount of closed posts will be dramatically noisy. For the majority of users and use cases, they have no need to see a closed post from months/years ago.

Thanks for the suggestion, Zak! This is a really practical point — having to know to filter for closed posts to find solutions tucked away in old threads is friction.

Just to make sure we're on the same page: when you say "show all posts by default," do you mean the post list should include closed posts in the initial view (before any filter is applied)? And are there other statuses besides open/closed we should think about, or is it mainly those two?

Also, how often do you find yourself searching through older posts for solutions — is this something that comes up regularly for you, or was it a one-off when you needed that mouse indicator fix?

Q: Just to make sure we're on the same page: when you say "show all posts by default," do you mean the post list should include closed posts in the initial view (before any filter is applied)?
A: Exactly.

If you want to filter for certain status, you can set the filter appropriately. However, taltking bout filters: It should be possible to chose more then one status to filter for. (at lieast on mobile this is not possible)

Q: Also, how often do you find yourself searching through older posts for solutions
A: This was actually the second time I did a search for closed posts. However, the forum just started some weeks ago and over time more and more information, questions, answers and solutions will be collected. Hence the informations db grows since more and more posts will get the 'closed' status. So I think this wil get more and more important over time.
