Role of new joining Space members should be "Viewer", not "Editor"

What could be better?

If someone request to join the Space and one approves it, then the newcomer is per default an Editor.
Yes, I know, one can change that later. But I think his default role should be a Viewer.
Otherwise it could to easily happen that one simply approves the request without much thinking and suddenly there is someone who could potentially do harmful things.

-- Maybe the newcomer is trustworthy and he doesn't even want to do harmful things. But if he's not experienced and he tests this & that, without really knowing what he does, it could too easily happen that he brings chaos into the well organized Space.

To help us prioritize this properly, a couple of clarifications:

  1. Current behavior confirmation: When someone requests to join and an admin approves, they're automatically assigned Editor — is that what you're seeing in your own Space, or are you suggesting this based on the docs/expected behavior?
  2. Use case: Are you managing a Space where you anticipate frequent join requests from people you haven't fully vetted yet, or is this more of a "better safe by default" principle regardless of your current member onboarding volume?

The idea itself (defaulting to Viewer, letting admins elevate as needed) makes the approval flow safer — no action required to stay cautious, only to grant more access. Just want to make sure we're scoping this against real friction you're hitting.
