"Check for updates": message interferes with underlying content

What could be better?

My video shows the issue:
I'm in a Collection, then I click in the top menu on "Check for updates".

The message that appears then has two issues that need improvements:

  1. The message is visual indifferent from the underlying Collections content.
-- Make it better visible, by adding a frame around the message and by adding a light grey background colour.
  2. If the message is open, the Collection still reacts on mouse-hovers and mouse-clicks.
It looks, as if there is no message.
-- If the message is open, it should have the focus, so that the underlying content doesn't react on mouse actions, until the user clicks the message away.
But for that, the user must be able to see it that there is such a message and that is actually not the case, because it is visually indistinguishable from the underlying content.

Thanks for reporting this — the video clearly shows the issue. To help us move forward, could you clarify a couple of things:

  1. When you say the message "reacts" to mouse actions — do you mean clicks on Collection items are registering (opening them, selecting them) even while the update message is visible? Or is it hover effects (highlighting rows, showing buttons) that persist?
  2. What happens when you try to close the message — is there a close button/X visible, or do you have to click somewhere specific to dismiss it?

These details will help the team understand whether this is purely a visual layering issue or if there's also an interaction-blocking problem to solve.
