Any Desktop v0.1.1

New

  • The Types mini app shows each type and its object count. Browse, search, sort, rename, favorite or archive its objects. New spaces include Types; existing spaces can add it under Mini apps in space settings.
  • Types groups files into Images, Videos, Audio and Documents, groups views by app, and shows the installed mini apps that use a type.
  • Arrange types by dragging or using Move up and Move down, and change a type's icon by clicking it.
  • Create objects directly from a type with + or + New wherever that type supports creation.
  • Open objects from a type in Side peek or choose full-screen opening.
  • Drag a block to the left or right edge of another block to put them side by side in columns.
  • Drag a block to the edge of a column, or into the gap between two columns, to add a column (up to four).
  • Focus mode hides the sidebars, right panel and Bao without changing your panel preferences. Press ⌘. on macOS to toggle it; toggle again to restore your chosen panels.
  • Drag the divider between two columns to resize them. Double-click it to make the columns equal again.
  • Turn into → 2, 3 or 4 columns wraps a block, or the selected blocks, in a column layout.
  • On a column layout, Turn into changes the number of columns, and Text turns the layout back into ordinary blocks.
  • Undo and Redo now cover Wiki sidebar moves, reordering, multi-page moves and creating folders or child pages. On macOS, use ⌘Z and ⇧⌘Z.
  • Moving objects to the Archive is now undoable, including from Contacts and the Library. Permanent deletion is unchanged.
  • An arrow above the message field takes you back to the latest messages when you have scrolled up.
  • In a chat, buttons above the message field show how many unread reactions and mentions you have and take you straight to them.
  • Open a chat's Details from the (i) in its header to see every photo, video, file and link shared in it, grouped by month, with search.
  • Areas in new setups include a Notes property.

Improved

  • Views remembers its sort order, and changing a type's search starts its results from the first page.
  • Menus and pickers open right against the button that opened them, lined up with the side of the window the button is on, and flip above it when there is no space below.
  • A button stays highlighted while its menu or picker is open.
  • Dialogs no longer blur the content behind them.
  • Tasks group headers no longer collapse — the band is a label, and Logged items stands open on area, project and Logbook pages.
  • The Tasks group header matches its design — no chevron, even padding, and an area group's icon sits closer to its name.
  • The Tasks mini-app carries its new icon.
  • Headings in the editor now step down in spacing from H1 to H4, so a page's structure is visible at a glance instead of every heading being spaced alike.
  • The page title sits a little lower under the header, and the body has more space below the type and property rows.
  • Warning banners and destructive buttons use a lighter red tint in Light and a dark red rather than brown tint in Dim. Dark is unchanged.
  • The space menu in the sidebar no longer offers Add to Favorites.
  • Skills now show a scroll icon.
  • The Backlinks button in the object header has a new icon.
  • Types now opens objects as a table or list with saved views, sorting, filters and grouping. User-created types also support adding, hiding, reordering and resizing property columns, editing cells and renaming the type in place.
  • Person objects in a type's List layout now show letter avatars.
  • The sidebar, the Journal's Recent list and their unread counters use one consistent row and counter style.
  • Dragging a column's whole content to another edge of its layout reorders the columns, and a column emptied by a drag disappears instead of leaving a blank slot.
  • Blocks inside columns slide into place after a drop or an edit instead of jumping, the way blocks in the rest of the document do.
  • A layout left with one column after a drag returns to ordinary blocks.
  • Settings screens share one layout — tighter top spacing, even gaps between sections, and rows that grow with long descriptions instead of cutting them off.
  • Settings value pickers (Theme, Dark mode, Date format, Time format) look like buttons with a chevron, so they read as clickable.
  • Credentials show Add key or Edit right on each key; Delete moved to the "…" next to it.
  • The Login key QR code sits on a soft background in the light theme.
  • Model settings use standard text for model names and show key status more clearly.
  • Long descriptions also fit without clipping in Connectors, Scheduled, Skills and Bookmarks.
  • Once page-body edits are fully undone, Undo can reach other changes in the app.
  • A member who can only read a space now sees an object's title, page and properties read-only, with a "Read only" note in the header, instead of edits that fail to save.
  • The read-only state updates when your space permissions change, without reopening the object.
  • If write access is removed, unfinished title, body and property edits are discarded, and pending paste choices no longer change the page.
  • Readers can expand or collapse sections for themselves without changing the shared page.
  • Opening a sidebar, the right panel or Bao exits focus mode so the requested panel appears immediately.
  • Pasting a URL into a page inserts it as a clickable link.
  • At a plain paragraph in the document body, pasted images go on their own line rather than splitting the paragraph. An empty paragraph is replaced instead of leaving extra blank lines.
  • A relation limit can combine types and collections, accepting objects that match either.
  • The space settings section is now called "Mini apps" instead of "Miniapps".
  • New objects created in a collection now use its default type when available, falling back to a page otherwise.
  • Column widths are saved with the page and stay consistent across devices.
  • A column resize takes one Undo step. Press Escape or cancel the drag to keep the original widths.
  • Reducing a layout's column count moves content into the remaining columns rather than dropping it.
  • Undoing a new folder or page moves it to the Archive; Redo restores the same item with its name and children.
  • If Undo or Redo is still running, Wiki organization actions ask you to wait rather than making another change.
  • Clicking the quote above a reply now scrolls smoothly to the original message and centres it, instead of snapping.
  • Long-distance jumps animate only the final approach instead of scrolling through the entire history.
  • The destination message's highlight lasts from arrival rather than being shortened by the scroll.
  • Reply jumps land instantly when reduced motion is enabled.
  • Pane dividers use a subtler hover highlight and a tighter glow by default.
  • Pane divider lines are also less prominent at rest by default.
  • Library collections, Tasks, Bookmarks, projects and areas now use consistent sidebar rows with a larger clickable area.
  • In a chat, the date of the messages you are reading now stays pinned under the header while you scroll.
  • Chat messages are now grouped by day for screen readers.
  • The media preview now blurs the app behind the picture; full-screen viewing stays unblurred.
  • Pictures in chat upgrade from the preview to full resolution when the original is available.
  • Settings, Connectors, Scheduled and Skills lists use the same row as the rest of the app, matching the new designs.
  • Connector icons are sharper, with Gmail, Google, GitHub and Google Sheets shown on a background tile.
  • Scheduled rows show status dots and short last-run, failure or stopped-after-failures summaries. Failed schedules are red; schedules that cannot run show their state alone.
  • Scheduled filters now use button styling with a clear selected state.
  • Descriptions and secondary details in Mail and Meetings lists use a more consistent text tone.
  • A video sent without a caption now shows its time on the video itself, like a photo does.
  • A white photo in chat keeps a faint edge instead of blending into the background.
  • Image previews in chat bookmark cards now use the same faint inside edge as media tiles.
  • Photo and video timestamps use a consistent rounded pill.
  • The member count in a space chat's header no longer shows avatars.
  • Files in chat Details show who sent them and when.
  • A file staged in the chat composer shows its file-type icon.
  • Close Details with its header button, Escape or the chat title to return to messages at your previous scroll position.
  • Media and links in Details also provide sender and time information.
  • Chat Details refreshes as new attachments arrive.
  • File type icons are redrawn — an outlined sheet with a clearer mark per kind.
  • Semantic search now processes content locally by default. An online provider is used only when you configure one.
  • Online semantic search can use a configured OpenAI-compatible provider instead of a built-in provider.
  • Invite codes can now be redeemed on the default network without extra setup.
  • New catalog setups organize people and organizations as collections of Profile objects, and deals, projects, areas and journal entries as collections of pages.
  • Existing spaces keep their installed types and collections when setting up apps again; no migration is performed.
  • People, organization, contact and role collections in new setups use Profile as the default type for new objects.
  • Repeating app setup preserves customized default types for its collections.

Fixed

  • The sidebar now lists only installed mini apps, matching space settings.
  • A type's icon now updates after you choose a new picture, matching Favorites and the Library.
  • Files no longer reports an empty space when loading fails, and type lists no longer report no objects before loading finishes.
  • Reordering types from the row menu now reports a failure if the new order cannot be saved.
  • The filter editor, the emoji picker and the icon pickers no longer run past the edge of the window.
  • The [[ link suggestions, @ mention suggestions, paste menus and context menu sit right on the text line or pointer instead of a few pixels away.
  • Dialog backdrops now dim the app in every theme instead of lightening it in dark themes.
  • The Meetings list column renders again in design previews, unblocking design review of that column.
  • Headings sit closer to the following paragraph instead of appearing to float between paragraphs.
  • In popovers and menus, the scrollbar now sits at the edge of the card instead of covering the right side of the rows.
  • Opening a type from its chip, a link, Favorites or search now shows its objects instead of an empty, unusable table.
  • The Pages count and its object list now agree, excluding installed app pages.
  • Collection lists no longer report "No objects yet" before their contents have loaded.
  • Pages opens with its fixed system columns and hides unsupported rename, icon and column-creation controls.
  • Screen readers now read "Today" / "Yesterday" and unread counts on sidebar rows.
  • A block dragged straight down beside its own column now reorders inside that column instead of leaving the layout.
  • Blocks inside columns can be selected as blocks by dragging a selection rectangle over them, not only as text.
  • The "Type text or press / for commands" prompt no longer wraps onto the block below in a narrow column.
  • Opening Chats from Types no longer depends on the rest of the space finishing loading to show its chat and hide unsupported creation controls.
  • Types opened from links, Favorites, search or type chips no longer offer + New in List or Gallery when that type does not support creating objects.
  • Filter and grouping counts now exclude objects moved to the bin, matching the table's visible objects.
  • Failures to load a column's filter options are now reported rather than silently ignored.
  • Undo now reverts a block move in one press on pages that contain a list, even after the page has saved.
  • Pressing Undo on a page right after opening it, or one step past your first edit, no longer empties the page and saves it blank.
  • The editor's block menu now opens beside the block instead of on top of it, so the text you are acting on stays readable.
  • Empty lines you leave inside a callout or a quote block no longer disappear — or multiply — on their own after a save.
  • Bao hides the inactive message box until AI setup is ready, while keeping it available for an active run, staged attachments or a reply or edit in progress.
  • Adding an icon to a callout from the block menu no longer scrolls the page to the top of the document or moves the cursor into the first block.
  • The first thing you see after creating an account is the Bao welcome, where you pick an AI provider — instead of an empty "Choose or create a space" screen.
  • Links in a page now open when clicked in the desktop app, including links that came from Markdown.
  • Pasting a URL over selected text links that text instead of replacing it.
  • Hovering "Add existing object to Wiki" in the Wiki header no longer shows the same tooltip twice.
  • Pasting an image — a screenshot, or an image copied from a web page — now adds it to the document instead of doing nothing.
  • The content card's corner no longer flashes a grey block when the pointer crosses the sidebar divider on desktop.
  • A Relation property's "Limit to" list now shows the collections you created, and the picker then offers only objects filed under them.
  • The sidebar's @ badge now clears for seen mentions in the loaded chat history when no unread messages or reactions remain.
  • The Relation property picker no longer offers the Collections sidebar app or the unnamed "Untitled" rows that belong to a collection's saved views as objects to link to.
  • Chat messages sent within the same second no longer appear in the wrong order after a reload or reconnect.
  • Replies no longer target a neighboring message because same-second messages changed order.
  • Pressing ↑ to edit your last message no longer edits an earlier one when several were sent in the same second.
  • The text selection toolbar no longer offers Text colour and Background colour, two buttons that never did anything.
  • Removing an object from a relation cell in a collection now saves, instead of silently coming back.
  • Tag and select controls also remain clickable when they extend over pinned cells or group bands.
  • Jumping to a quoted message scrolls only the chat, without moving the surrounding page.
  • A type opened as a table no longer offers the misleading "Delete collection" action.
  • Flicker when opening the Backlinks panel from Tasks.
  • Closing the right panel restores keyboard focus without shifting the page.
  • Journal opens its calendar and saves daily notes correctly with the latest server.
  • Journal's Mini apps controls and sidebar reordering now recognize the updated Journal setup.
  • With the updated Journal setup, opening a day reuses its existing page and archived entries stay out of the calendar.
  • A new message no longer yanks you to the bottom of a chat while you are reading older messages.
  • Pictures opened from chat are no longer blurred while the original loads or when it cannot be fetched.
  • The Backlinks button now rides the header of the object opened in a Side peek, so you can reach that object's backlinks without expanding it full-screen.
  • Long inline object links now wrap without overlapping surrounding text.
  • Photos and videos in chat no longer show a thin light gap and crooked corners at their edges.
  • Reactions under a message are back to their designed size, and someone else's reaction no longer sits on too dark a background.
  • Bao's Stop button now stays visible from sending a message until Bao finishes, including while it works silently between tool calls.
  • A second Stop press still requests a force stop even if Bao posts progress between presses.
  • Search setup now reports an error if an online provider is missing its address or model.
