Chat reaction notification doesn't go away

When I click the "heart" icon to see which what message someone reacted to it brings me to the message (and highlights it). This is expected.

However there is no reaction shown (maybe it was removed). Either way the alert isn't going away (img).

Closing and opening the app seemed to fix this (the reaction shows shows and the alert is gone).
