"Group by" in view settings causes the view to lag

What went wrong?

When Grouping objects by something it lags.

Context:

~44 Author options (The same lag also happens with same intensity with Tag property grouping with ~4 options)

572 Objects

What should happen?

It shouldn't lag. It should probably convey that more data is loading in a better UX. Like skeleton loader

Thanks for reporting this — the video clearly shows the freeze when grouping kicks in. A couple of clarifications:

  1. Environment: Which browser/OS are you on, and roughly how long does the lag last (seconds)?
  2. Repro steps: Does it lag every time you group by Author, or only on the first grouping after loading the view? And does it happen if you group by a property with fewer options first (e.g., a Status field with 3–5 values)?
  3. Performance context: When you group by Author with 44 options on 572 objects, are you seeing the lag while the groups are rendering on screen, or does it freeze before any groups appear?
