Inline Views
I would like to see "Inline Views" implemented in Anytwo. Views are a strong feature and to be able to have them inline in other objects is very helpful. For example, if you define a type Book and a type Author, it would be nice to be able to see all the books an author has published on the author object. "Inline Views" were implemented in Anytype as Inline Query and I found them to very useful, especially with the dynamic filters. I think they should have the same functionality as Anytype as documented on the Inline Views page.

I would also love for AnyTwo to get inline functionality in the near future as most of my usecases heavily rely on that; in other words, without inline functionalities, most of my workflows break and can not be brought over to AnyTwo.
As for the new features that I wish I had at the moment, it's a little bit hard to talk about it since we don't have the upcoming 'roll-up', formula, and 'relation' feature of Notion that was said it's coming to Anytype. But it's mostly about automation and being able to create templates for it. For instance, using Bao we could import all of our Book Library to Anytype and with custom templates, imagine that if a certain book has the same author, then both of them would show up in the author's page. The same goes for the Movie/TV show library or Project management and so forth.
But then again, we can take it even a step further and using properties, and the new backlinks feature coupled with the block copy link feature to pull up all the reviews that I have written for those books to give me an overview or a summary of how I think about that Author, or that director, etc. But that dynamic placeholder is the first key for all of this.
·14 days agoIt would be great if everybody could chime in on:
- What kind of filters you expect?
- Any other special functionality you believe should exist?
Ultimately, what I’m really looking is formulas/rollups - I know that’s a way off. In the interim, apart from obvious basic filtering, I’d really want the ability to combine criteria via AND and OR. What would be very nice would be nested filtering - I make a selection using filter #1 to which I can then apply filters #2 or #3 or both as and when I need them.
Fomulas and rollups would be very helpful.
Yes and/or filters! but for objects that have inline views the ability to filter by "This object" is absolute 100% necessary for my use case
For me just basic column filtering. The situation described in this post is something that I would want (and do in Anytype).
I use the "This object" filter a lot in templates containing inline views.
In some use cases I think the new related tab on the right sidebar can replace inline queries with "This object".
Maybe rollups with filters based on relations can make other workflows that now depend on inline queries also work in Anytwo.
However, it seems both options will always be much more limited compared to proper inline collection views regarding: filters, layouts (gallery, kanban, etc), visible/hidden properties, sorting, grouping, etc.
PS: the "This object" filter behavior in Anytype is very inconsistent*, and I really hope Anytwo model allow big improvements in this filter.
*Even finding it is tricky: it doesn't appear when you view the inline query outside the parent object, it doesn't work on Query templates, it breaks if you view the inline query using it outside the object, etc. After you finally discover it only appears when viewing the query in inline mode, when you need to make changes to the filters or views and you realize that - in order for this filter to work - Anytype internally created one copy of the view setting for each object and you need to adjust the view one by one, while API v1 can't change views. Thankfully "This Object" also works with templates, that's the way I use this filter 99% of the times.
A "This Day" filter would be really helpful too, particularly in relations to tasks.
For consistency sake, I believe all filters available to collections should also be available in inline collection views, plus the filters that only make sense inline: this object, maybe this object's collections, filters based on this object property values (rollups?), etc
This day is part of the first group. Anytwo already has some date filtering options (see screenshot). "Is relative to today" looks like it should do what you want, but I don't see how to specify the distance between today, or specify one date relative to another. 😕
Agree with this FR. I use inline views a lot—perhaps even more than full-page views.
For example, I have a tasks table, and I embed filtered views of that table into certain tracking pages (along with notes and views from other tables, such as a shopping list).
We need to reintroduce inline collection/view and make them just as functional as full page collection/view.
Regarding @Kaye's question, maybe there's already (or could be) a post dedicated to the desired filters? Discussing it in the inline table request might confuse the topics.
Personally, I'd like to have the same filters and features in the inline version as in the full version of collection.
Yes, you're right. Please create a feature request outlining the types of filters you'd like. It makes sense for that to be a separate feature request, since it will transcend inline views as a block. We can connect that FR as being related to this one.
