Typing Indicator
Not sure how easy or hard this would be to implement, but typing indicators similar to Discord's implementation would be helpful for chats so you can see who/when someone is respond to your message.

Worthwhile to note: in a local-first environment, messages can be written and sent while offline—which leads to different states that cloud apps don't have to deal with.
Totally, I didn't if it was something that could be scoped as a bus event so its on an ephemeral layer. And enabled with a toggle so folks could opt-in if they wanted. I was thinking it'd be useful for an enterprise setting or in spaces with over 100ppl.
+1 on being opt-in. I always disable the typing indicator, online indicator, etc wherever I can 😁. For my brain those are distracting and harmful for deep, focused work.
