Multi select editions in collection and Types
I have several needs that require me to be able to edit the properties of multiple pages at once.
For example, I have a lot of pages that aren’t in a collection.
In this case, I’d like to add a bunch of them to a collection: I can select them in Library > Pages, but the interface only lets me delete them.
I’d also like to be able to add them to a collection.
And within a collection, I’d like to be able to use a drop-down menu to quickly add a tag to an entire list of pages.
Again, the only option available is to delete them.
These are my current needs; more generally, I’d like to be able to modify all the properties of a selected batch of pages.
Since Library > Pages displays a “Collection” column, adding pages to a collection could be done by modifying that property (otherwise, the standard “Add to” context menu would work just fine).

·3 days agoThank you for the detailed feature request and screenshot — that's exactly the kind of concrete use case that helps.
I want to make sure I understand the scope: when you say "modify all the properties of a selected batch of pages," are you thinking of this working the same way it does in most document tools (select multiple, then a toolbar or panel shows a "set collection" dropdown, "add tags" dropdown, etc.)? Or would you prefer a different interaction pattern?
Also, are there other properties beyond collection and tags that you'd want to bulk-edit — things like type, status, or custom fields — or is the need primarily around collections and tags for now?
model.
- Select the objects
- At the top or via the context menu, have an “Edit Property” menu that lets you choose the property you want.
This should be possible for everything (except the title). The most important ones for me: tags (allowing you to add tags without overwriting existing ones, or to delete them all); checkboxes; backlinks, collections, or anything that lets you create links; numbers.
- "My 5 requests have been completed; I want to mark them as “Done.”
- "I bought 3 more of each of these bottles of wine; I want to change their quantities to 5".
- "I've completed all the tasks on the list; I want to check them all off!"
- "I want to add a “TEMP” tag to the pages that are supposed to be temporary in my collection, but without overwriting the current tags that indicate, for example, whether it’s a test, a draft, etc.: I’ll select everything and add the tag to the existing tags"
For URLs, dates, etc., when I’ve needed them, it was to delete them: “Okay, I want to remove the URLs from this entire list of pages.”
Another method for updating multiple cells that I really like: being able to paste down.
Just like in Excel or Notion: I select my first cell and drag it down. It’s super fast—even faster than the menu option mentioned above—but it’s more context-dependent (you need to have the value there, and you need to have the rows to follow).
That would be great! But right now, we can’t select a cell, so this is probably something to tackle in a future update? Should I create a separate ticket for this?
Hey Shampra,
I believe my own request is related to yours. Because it would allow to quickly view in the table all Objects that share a distinct feature (and no other Objects).
That would avoid the need to select multiple similar Objects one by one manually.
If the table then shows all needed Objects together (without ballast), your Request would be a nice addition (or follow up) to mine.
I would say, our two request make a lot sense if both become implemented.
-- I've therefore upvoted yours.
