Read only toggle for pages

There are times when I just want to read the page and not modify it. And text selection helps with highlighting what I am reading right now. But every so often, I move blocks by mistakes, or drag and drop things.

It is also helpful for people that don't want unnecessary sync caused by accidental block movement.

Required solution

A device level toggle for making the page non-editable. But it still should be interact-able (links working)

Thanks for the detailed feature request, Alaz.

A read-only toggle that keeps links live but prevents accidental edits sounds genuinely useful — especially for shared pages where you want to browse without worrying about moving things around.

Two quick questions to help us understand the scope better:

  1. When you say "device level" — do you mean the toggle should persist per device (so if you open the same page on your phone vs laptop, each can have its own read-only state)? Or just a per-session setting?
  2. Are there specific workflows where you'd want this most — like reviewing a page before publishing, or sharing a read-only link with teammates who shouldn't edit?

  1. With "device level toggle" I meant, local level scope. Eg. If I have logged in from Mac and Windows, and I enable for Mac, It should apply only on Mac. But I am also not opposed to otherwise.
  2. Reviewing is the use-case that fits my needs. Like, I write my notes on Any, and then, sometime in future, I revise it. And in the revision phase it will come handy.
