Option for automatic linking, wiki-style

There should be an option for automatic linking of objects that are mentioned in a text of another object. Like this navigation could be faster and easier. Like in a big wiki, where every entry is linked if mentioned.

Thanks for the feature request, however this is not clear. You can already link any object using @ command. What do you mean by automatic linking? I see in your response to "I think we should have it optionally automatically for every mention in an defined area", this would be chaotic. If I had an object called Draft, then every time I wrote the word draft in any object it would create a link automatically to this?

Maybe I'm not understanding the request.

What problem are you having that you'd like to solve? Describe the scenario. I also edited to this to be feature request, as it's not an improvement on any existing feature.

Hmmm, maybe it makes only sense in a very specific area of content. The difference could be for instance, that only wiki-pages are crosslinked automatically.
Had not realised the '@-linking' yet. (Would be even better to show up as plain text.)

Ok, I will close this until after you've figured out what issue you're having and what you're looking for. We can reopen then or start another post.

Thanks for the suggestion, Zak. This is a thoughtful idea — auto-linking mentions would definitely speed up navigation.

To help us think through this properly, a couple of quick questions:

  1. What kinds of objects would you want auto-linked? Just within a single workspace, or across workspaces too? And should it work for all object types, or specific ones (like projects, people, tasks)?
  2. How would you want to control it? For example, should it link ANY mention of an object's name (which could get noisy), or only explicit references like @object-name or [[object-name]]? And should there be a way to turn it off for specific texts or workspaces?

These details will help us understand the actual use case and what trade-offs matter most.

  • Q: What kinds of objects would you want auto-linked? Just within a single workspace, or across workspaces too? And should it work for all object types, or specific ones (like projects, people, tasks)?
A: Hmmmm, by default just within a single workspace. However, there should be an option to define the scope, somehow.
  • Q: How would you want to control it? For example, should it link ANY mention of an object's name (which could get noisy), or only explicit references like @object-name or [[object-name]]? And should there be a way to turn it off for specific texts or workspaces?
A: I think we should have it optionally automatically for every mention in an defined area (one or more spaces or one or more collections within a space) plus, in parallel, the possibility of explicit references like '[[object-name]]'. (And if you enter [[ there should be a list of all objects to choose from.)
