Create Button

Purpose

The fastest way to create objects in any space and be easy to use for new users.

Requirements

1. Creation should be frictionless. Limit the necessary organisation decisions to its minimum, while still giving opportunity to organise if desired.
2. Creation should be vault-wide. Objects created with this button can be put in any space.
3. Creation should be able to follow templates. Can pick from various templates.
4. Creation should clearly show its destination. Avoid objects going into the wrong spaces.
5. Creation should be configurable. Can choose defaults or options.

Solution

• By default, Page is the type and the destination is the current active Space. There is no requirement to apply Collections, but it is possible to.
• User can change the Space, Collection, and Template during creation.
• User can set the default the Space, Collection, and/or Template used.
• After creation, notification toast should appear: [Object Name] was created in [Space Name] — View, Undo
• Based on the object content, Collections should be suggested.
• Draft objects (not yet created) should be held separately from any Space to prevent private contents accidentally leaking into a shared Space. Only after creation does the object’s contents officially enter a space. Undo should remove all traces of the object.
• Create button should highlight the desination Space to minimise user error.
• When using CMD+Click or Middle Click on the Create button to open in a new tab, the object should not be created directly in any Space yet.
