Nightly
Any Desktop v0.1.4-nightly.20260925.1
New
- Middle-click a page, chat, collection or supported link or sidebar item to open a background tab; Shift+middle-click opens and switches to the new tab.
- Archive rows, backlinks, related objects, relation values and connectors now support middle-click and ⌘-click (Ctrl-click on Windows and Linux) to open a new tab.
- Middle-click a tab to close it.
- On macOS and Windows, the back and forward buttons on your mouse now go back and forward in the app.
- The block menu has "Open all toggles" and "Close all toggles" when two or more toggles are selected.
- Use the plus button in a message's quick-reaction bar to open the full emoji picker and react with any emoji.
- The first chip under an object's title is now its format, such as Page or Action, and its arrow opens that format as a collection.
- Format selected text in a chat draft using the toolbar or shortcuts. On macOS: ⌘B for bold, ⌘I for italic, ⌘E for code and ⌘⇧S for strikethrough. Formatting markers stay visible while composing.
- Add a link to selected text in a chat draft with the Link button or ⌘K on macOS.
- Use ⌘⇧S on macOS to strike through selected text in the document editor.
- Open Members from the people pill in space settings to see who belongs to the space.
- Change member roles from the Members screen when you have permission.
- When you have permission, approve a join request with a chosen role, including Admin, or decline it from the Members screen.
- Search the member list from the Members screen.
- Sort members by name or role, with pending join requests kept at the top.
Improved
- Agent startup diagnostics and exported logs now include the underlying cause of a failure.
- In Dark theme, collection header and settings controls keep their selected highlight while hovered with a menu open.
- Leave a synced block with arrow keys: Down on its last visible line or Right at its end moves below; Up on its first line or Left at its start moves above. Left and Right are reversed in right-to-left text.
- The update card shows when an update is installing.
- The update card offers a retry after recoverable installation or restart failures.
- Previously opened tabs keep receiving messages, page edits and collection updates while in the background.
- Emoji and icon pickers have slightly less-rounded corners.
- Tabs show an open page, contact or collection with its own name and icon.
- Tabs for Journal days and meetings show the mini-app's name and icon, as do mini-apps with no object open.
- Settings tabs show the open category; account settings show your account name and avatar.
- A link to an object inside text now looks like a web link — underlined instead of bold — so it reads as clickable.
- The row and column handles of a table now appear when you point at a cell and follow the pointer, instead of only after you click into a cell.
- Table right-click, row and column menus now match other app menus, with tighter rows, updated corners and a thin outline.
- The resting table handle is now a solid blue bar, and the column handle sits on the table's top edge.
- The formula panel now uses the same styling as table menus.
- The table's outline now matches its add buttons in Dark theme.
- The callout icon picker remembers the emoji you used recently and shows them first under "Recently used".
- Emoji selected for callouts also appear in Recently used in other icon pickers.
- Callout backgrounds also stand out more clearly in Light theme.
- Format labels now match across Formats, chips, collection titles, breadcrumbs and tabs: Page, File, View, Discussion (chat) and Action (formerly Task). File categories are Image, Video, Audio and Document.
- The people pill now shows who is in the space rather than only how many, and leads somewhere when you click it.
- On the default network, your devices and shared-space members' devices can now discover each other and sync objects and files over the internet without extra setup.
- Account recovery can retrieve objects and files from another of your online devices, even when it is on a different local network.
Fixed
- Turning a heading or a text block into a toggle from the block menu now happens instantly instead of after a delay.
- Shift+Enter inside a synced block now inserts a line break instead of jumping out of the block.
- Desktop updates wait for you to click Update before installing.
- On Windows, Any closes its background service and waits for it to stop before starting the installer.
- If a Windows update fails after Any has shut down for installation, Any explains the error, asks you to reopen the app and exits instead of remaining hidden and blocking later launches.
- After a Windows update fails following shutdown, background update checks skip that version instead of repeatedly offering it.
- Signing in while an update downloads no longer interrupts the download.
- On Windows and Linux, middle-clicking a supported tab or new-tab target no longer starts autoscroll.
- On Linux, middle-clicking a supported tab or new-tab target no longer pastes selected text into the focused document or composer.
- Collections remember whether their properties are shown or hidden when opening another object or reloading the app.
- Reordering collection chips keeps the selected collection, even when its properties are hidden.
- Arrow keys now move through the block menu when it is opened inside a table cell, instead of moving the cursor out of the table and closing the menu.
- When available to your account, reopening Invite shows the current invite to copy without replacing it, so links you already shared keep working.
- If no existing invite is available, non-owners now see that only the space owner can create one instead of an internal error.
- Returning to a collection after opening one of its items keeps your scroll position in Table and List views.
- Returning to a table also restores the rows you had already loaded instead of resetting to the first 200.
- The "+" add-row bar stays aligned with the table as you type, images load, columns or the window resize, and the page scrolls or reflows, instead of overlapping cells.
- Right-clicking a standalone object card in a table cell now opens its own menu for duplication or deletion, without selecting the whole table.
- After dismissing an object card's menu in a table cell, Delete and Cut act on the card rather than the table.
- Deleting the last block in a table cell leaves an empty paragraph you can type in.
- Chat message backlinks now open the chat at the referenced message instead of opening the Chats data view.
- Chat backlink source headers now open the source chat.
- Using Back after following a chat backlink returns directly to the document you came from.
- Clicking the arrow of one selected toggle now opens or closes all selected toggles at once, and the selection stays.
- Pressing Space or Enter on a selected toggle's arrow now opens or closes every selected toggle together.
- Pasting text into a quote now keeps it inside the quote, with paragraphs and lists intact, instead of splitting the quote around the pasted content.
- Turning a line with text into a quote from the slash menu no longer adds an empty line above it or moves the cursor to the start of the line.
- Selecting text across several blocks now offers Toggle List and Callout in the formatting toolbar, like the block menu does.
- Turning selected list items into callouts or quotes now converts every selected item without removing bullets from the rest of the list.
- One undo now takes back a whole Turn into, however many blocks it converted.
- Turn into from the block menu works again right after an undo.
- The formatting toolbar no longer offers Quote or Code block inside table cells, preventing whole-table quotes and ineffective code conversions.
- Multi-block conversions now save completely and remain after reloading, instead of disappearing.
- The formatting toolbar correctly identifies a single-paragraph callout as Callout.
- Text stays selected after converting the selected blocks into toggles or callouts.
- Coming back to a chat tab no longer jumps to later messages; you are where you left off, including in older history you had scrolled back to.
- Chats keep previously loaded older messages after reconnecting when the refreshed messages connect to the history already loaded.
- Paragraphs, bullet markers and numbered lists now align consistently across indentation levels.
- Pressing Enter in an indented paragraph now keeps the new line at the same indentation, and Enter at the start of an indented paragraph no longer moves its text back to the margin.
- Dropping an image or file outside the editor no longer replaces the whole app with the file.
- Dropping a file onto a page title or a text field no longer types the file's location into it.
- Dropping a file onto an image or embed block in a page now adds it there instead of breaking the app.
- Dropping a link outside editable fields or supported drop targets no longer replaces the app with the linked page.
- Right-clicking a link in a document or a table now offers Copy link address, so you can copy the link's URL without opening it.
- Styling closed toggles now changes only their visible titles, not the hidden content inside them; open toggles are still styled throughout.
- Adding or removing a link across closed toggles no longer changes the hidden content inside them.
- Formatting buttons and shortcuts now use only the visible selected text to determine whether a style is on or off.
- Paragraphs in chat messages are separated by a full blank line again, so they are easier to tell apart.
- Bulleted, numbered and checkbox list items now have the same height and spacing as ordinary text, so a page reads with one even rhythm.
- Clicking the empty part of a new page in the create popup no longer closes the popup and loses what you wrote.
- Callouts that start with a list now align their icon with the first line and have the same bottom spacing as paragraph-led callouts.
- Right-click menus now leave a gap at the window edges.
- Chat tabs now show the space's name and icon, or the other person's name and avatar in a direct chat, instead of "General".
- The icon picker on a callout opens directly under the callout, aligned to its left edge, instead of far to the right.
- A callout's icon is centred on its first line when it starts with a heading or a quote containing ordinary text.
- A callout's background is now clearly visible in Dim and Dark themes.
- The table row and column menu no longer gets cut off when the table sits near the bottom of the page — it opens upward instead.
- On macOS and Linux, the / command menu opens at the text cursor in right-to-left text instead of the window's top-left corner.
- The / command menu stays within the window horizontally, including on right-to-left lines.
- On macOS and Linux, paste-as and embed-paste menus anchor at the text cursor in right-to-left text.
- The embedding model download in the status bar now shows its progress in MB (for example 323 MB / 610 MB) instead of long raw byte counts.
- On macOS and Linux, the text cursor keeps a consistent appearance and height at the end of right-to-left text.
- On macOS and Linux, pressing Up at the end of a wrapped Persian paragraph in a synced block moves up a line instead of leaving the block.
- The text cursor and its menus now align with the end of Latin words or numbers within right-to-left text.
- Right-to-left blocks now place list bullets, numbers and checkboxes, callout icons, toggle arrows and rails, and quote borders and indentation on the right.
- Numbered lists written in Persian or Arabic now count in Persian (۱ ۲ ۳) or Arabic (١ ٢ ٣) digits.
- An object title written in a right-to-left language now aligns right, and a title mixing right-to-left and left-to-right words reads in the right order.
- Right-to-left checklist items respond to clicks on their visible checkboxes, not the opposite side of the row.
- Small Mermaid diagrams no longer blow up to the full width of the page; they show at their natural size and still shrink to fit narrow columns.
- While you drag a collection chip under an object's title, the other chips move out of its way again.
- Reloading the Page table opens it again instead of loading forever.
- The divider between two columns is now easy to find and grab next to one-line blocks, and a block's drag handle no longer shows beside it while you resize.
- Moving into the previous column now reveals that column's block handles instead of leaving the following column's handle over its text.
- The "…" button in Wiki and Collections now opens a menu for the open page or collection, and is hidden when nothing is open.
